28-Day Writing Challenge

Along with my 28-Day Cleaning Challenge, I am attempting a 28-Day Writing Challenge. This challenge is no less arduous. It requires a few steps in order for me to feel that the month has been truly productive.

  • Author Plan: I am working through Joanna Penn's newest release Your Author Business Plan. I have been been a published author since 2007, and I have been blogging since 2008. But, it's time for some rebranding and restructuring of my writing to be a business.

  • Productivity: I am going to start another one of Penn's books titled Productivity for Authors. I am hoping this book will give me some practical ideas about how to improve my daily regimen as well as be encouraged to continue what is already working.

  • A Poem a Day: I started this challenge for myself last month, but admittedly I was not as diligent as I wanted to be. The minimum was to write down a title or prompt for myself to return to when I had more time to develop the poem. I have some catch-up drafting work to do for January. But, for February, my determination continues for at least a daily prompt or title.

  • Just Journaling: I thought I would enjoy doing a sketch journal, but I am truly a scribe when it comes to this habit. However, the day-to-day is not quite thrilling enough. So, I am going to just journal whenever I can without getting hung up on the date. I am simply going to write and see what comes from the practice.

If you are a writer and you want to follow along with my challenges or would like to create your own, I would love to hear about it in the comments.

Happy writing!
