Battling the Basement: Closing the Camper...For Good
One of the reasons that my basement has been inundated with boxes is because we are selling our destination trailer. (Which hasn't sold yet, in case anyone is interested in buying one.) Suddenly, I have double of everything.
This isn't a bad thing in some ways. I have enough silverware, utensils, and dishes to give to my youngest when he moves out or to stock a second kitchen if and when we decide to finish the basement for our middle son. The Keurig in my kitchen keeps clogging, so I switched it out for the one from the camper. Glasses seem to break easily at my house, so I restocked the cupboard. I gleefully adding the mixing bowls to my paltry collection on the counter. It felt a little like Christmas again.
So, even though all the boxes are a bit overwhelming, I am counting my blessings. I am planning ahead for my children's future living arrangements. I am giving up what I no longer need to people who can use and enjoy these things as I have. I am joyfully remembering a season of summer camping with my family. We'll be taking other trips together, but when I hold one of my camper coffee mugs, I will smile at the warm memories.
