One Good Thing Every Day: December 7, 2013
Last Sunday, I wrote about hope. Throughout the week, God has placed in my path His Word just as He promises in Psalm 119:105.
Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.
Hope often flickers within the suffocating darkness of this world. Certainly, the gale-force wind of suffering threatens to extinguish it. Even a tired sigh might snuff it out. Hope focused on this temporary life will die. But, vigilant Hope peering beyond this abyss knows that God's Eternal Light never fades. Perhaps, like Jacob, my sleep-clogged eyes need clearing to see it. Maybe I must remember for Whom I work or I must apply more heart-felt effort to my calling. Either way, I keep my hope-filled eyes peeled for even a glimpse of His Presence.
