One Good Thing Every Day: September 30-October 6, 2013
While at one of my son's guitar lessons this week, I overheard his teacher tell him to focus on one measure at a time and not to look ahead. As a big picture-planning person, I memorize weekly patterns and routines. I anticipate the trouble spots. I note the rests not to be ignored. But, I tend to trip up my rhythm by scanning ahead on the daily page rather than focusing on the measure of the moment. I set my inner metronome at an allegro when it should be an andante. Even as my son needs to find the first beat of each measure, I need to begin each day with the One. Other miscounts may occur, but I can keep pace if I focus on Him.
