Pick a Poet
I'm not going to provide a book review in this post so much as to provide a suggestion. During this unprecedented time in our world when we are all staying home to prevent the spread of a nefarious disease, why not spend the month of April, which happens to be poetry month, reading poetry? Here are a few of my favorite poets (in alphabetical order) whose works may span the length of these sequestering days and in some cases surpass them.
Elizabeth Bishop
Emily Dickinson
Annie Dillard
Louise Erdrich
Carolyn Forche
Robert Frost
Dana Gioia
Louise Gluck
H. D. (Hilda Doolittle)
Stanley Kunitz
Czelaw Milosz
Jim Moore
Mary Oliver
Anne Porter
Rainer Maria Rilke
William Shakespeare
Luci Shaw
William Stafford
Tomas Transtromer
Walt Whitman
William Butler Yeats
I'll join this challenge myself and may share insights along the way.
