I would be remiss if I did not mention Shakespeare during Poetry Month and the week of his birthday (April 23). I'm not going to cite a specific collection because Shakespeare's work can be easily accessed from a number of sources. I prefer his sonnets over his plays because they are most accessible, easily applied, and expertly executed. Shakespeare set the bar as the bard of bards, and we have been trying to reach the height of his skill and renown for centuries. Shakespeare wrote for the groundlings as much as he wrote for the royal court. Take some time to savor a sonnet today.
