Why or Why Not Hope?
This question led to an interesting discussion with my children. We listed pros and cons for suffering and troubles. I read selections from my other readings today as they provided clarity and relevance.
We, then, discussed the impact of the preceding phrase on the question.
This week's Advent theme came to mind as I considered this question as well. Trials can cause hopelessness. This somewhat rhetorical question reveals hope believers have through Christ's suffering. Yet, it also reminds me of an additional healing hope God administers.
As often happens, my daily readings coincide. Today was no exception. My children's devotional reading was from John 16:23b-27--where two more Advent themes are mentioned--just above the verses I studied in-depth yesterday. How can I be hopeless when God connects His Word--past, present, and future--through unconnected resources, daily experiences, my own reflection on hope, and another I hope to write about peace?
How about you? What impact does this question have on you? How does God inject healing hope into your daily experience?
